Garbage (REFUSE) Collection"THE DAYTON TOWNSHIP REFUSE ORDINANCE"are:· To prevent the discard of garbage and refuse within the Township except
by approved waste disposal means and methods.
Dayton Township contracts for township-wide refuse collection with Waste Management of MI.COLLECTION TIMES -Day of collection is Monday. Collection begins early to minimize traffic congestion. Please have your waste containers at curbside by 6:00 AM on collection day. If waste is not out on time it will not be picked up until the following week.
GENERAL REFUSE -General refuse (garbage) MUST be bagged. Containers may not exceed 50 pounds in weight.
PROHIBITED ITEMS -Prohibited items for collection: deposit beverage containers, any hazardous or liquid wastes, automobile batteries, large auto parts, yard waste, roofing or demolition material, concrete, stumps, dirt, rocks or railroad ties.
LARGE/BULKY ITEMS -Bulky items like appliances, carpet or furniture are collected on an as needed basis and are limited to one item per week per residential unit. WM will collect large household items each week along with your regular pickup without any special charge and without any advance call. This service includes items such as carpet (must be cut in lengths no longer than four feet, securely tied and each bundle weighing no more than fifty pounds), water softeners (empty), mattresses & box springs, furniture and appliances not containing Freon. Appliances containing Freon can be scheduled for separate collection by calling WM customer service at 1 (800) DUMPSTER.
