DAYTON TOWNSHIP
Proposed Regular Meeting Minutes
April 5, 2010
Meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM with the pledge to the flag. Members Bob Cook, Eleanor Kilmer, Robert Steel, and Michael Mocniak were present.
Minutes from the March 1, 2010 meeting were motioned for approval by Steel and seconded by Mocniak. Motion carried.
Public comment: James Bondy wondered what we had for a noise ordinance; he has had trouble with motorbikes late at night being noisy. County usually takes
care of the noise issue. Rick Seidler mentioned Shay Lake needs resurfacing before it goes out completely. Bob Steel mentioned going out for a drive through the
Shay Lake area to see the blight problems mentioned and found several run-down buildings that should be addressed.
Planning Commission: Earnest Coleman gave the report in place of Doug Graham for the Planning Commission Meeting last month. The Catlike Floodplain maps
were discussed and it was recommended to the township to approve the maps so those affected could purchase flood insurance at a reduced rate if they desire to
do so.
Zoning Administrator: Bob Cook issued two permits this month, one for a garage and one for a dwelling.
Blight Enforcement Officer: Bob Cook looked into getting tickets to issue Blight Violations on so he could have an ORI number to follow through the court system.
Bob and Linda Davis looked into the matter and found out since we don’t have a police department in our township we can’t get them without going through our
attorney. Citations can be written and turned over to the attorney if the problem is not cleared up in a timely manner. The attorney will be able to get them through the
court system. Linda Davis handed out copies of the Blight Ordinance in the Shay Lake area and clean up results can be seen already in many cases.
DNR-DEQ sent Bob a letter concerning our old dumpsite and gave 30 days for him to respond to it. Bob met with the Heath department in Caro to find out what
was needed to be done since we still own the property and it was covered over after use and hadn’t been used in years we should have no problems. It just had
to be on the DNR-DEQ list of old sites.
